OK I'm curious now. This is a music website. There are 5 stereotypical slow dance songs: Earth Angel, Open Arms, True, I'll Be, and Iris. I always assumed my first dance would be to something more unique, you know? I Know It's Over or We Are Nowhere And It's Now or Heartbeats or Delicate or Marching Bands of Mannhattan. Seriously, in my head, those were the 5 I thought of when I thought of what my first dance would be like.
And you know what?
First dance. I'll Be by Edwin McCain. It wasn't my choice, of course. I have no idea why I'd thought it would be.
So guys: what was your first dance song? What was your dream first dance song/a few dream first dance songs?
This sort of borders the line between lounge and music, I just figured I'd post it here so I can get stories behind the dance from y'all if you want. _________________
Hmmm. This is one of those bizarre moments where I don't trust my memory because my first instinct was that it was Wicked Game, but I can't imagine that they played that for a bunch of 12 and 13 years olds.
It's way more likely that it was something from Boyz II Men or that song I Swear by All 4 One.
I can understand why my memory would have George Lucas'd that.
Not sure anymore which one came first...but it was one or the other! We didn't really go in for slow dancing much though and spent most of our time stomping to Northern Soul or Post-Punk!
My first wedding dance was 'Love Will Tear Us Apart'... Which was very strange to do a slow type dance to so we didn't really bother in the end!
Would have been year six disco I'd say. Boys and girls mainly avoided each other for the whole evening apart from the last few slow songs where kids coupled up and shuffled about awkwardly for a few minutes. Can't remember what songs played but I remember them being horrible. _________________ Shut up mate you're boring!
