I could have agreed, but even though Foxtrot and Selling England are pretty much on par with EVOL and Sister respectively, Lamb, as good (though not excellent) as it is, is nowhere near the level of Daydream. So not totally a joke for me, could have been true xD

It was a joke for me, as much as I love all three of those albums. Just remember how Genesis-obsessed I was in my early days! XD

This, Sister and DN could be the best three album run of all time tbh.
Couldn't agree more. These r the only five star albums by Sonic Youth, and it was not coincidental that they occurred when they were still evolving as a band. Goo's a fun album, but EVOL, Sister, & Daydream Nation were simply mind altering. They were untouchable at this point in time, completely pushing the boundaries of guitar rock with each successive album. Nothing from their 90s catalog comes close to having the impact these three had.
Other 80s triumvirates to reckon with...
2. The Smiths, Meat is Murder, The Queen is Dead
3. Meat Puppets II, Up on the sun, Huevos
4. Dinosaur Jr, Living All Over Me, Bug

Great album, although I prefer their next three. "Expressway To Yr. Skull" is in my top five Sonic Youth songs.

I agree with the ones saying that this is the best SY album. Basically it's the only one I still listen to on a regular basis and I don't think it will ever leave my top 10.

SY would never sound this intimate again. This is also the most conventional SY ever got. Most of the tracks are catchy & spooky lo-fi art pop songs with their famous dual guitar experiments serving as beautiful adornment or a jaw-dropping outro as opposed to comprising the song itself. This only brings the majesty of their guitar skronk into sharper relief. Still can't hold a candle to Daydream Nation though.

Almost agree, but I'd put Dirty and Goo over Murray Street, and how did you just completely ignore Experimental Jet Set (which I'd place 3rd or 4th depending on the location of the moon on that particular day _________________ http://jonnyleather.com
