Really? You do know you can pick pretty much any hip-hop album ever, right?

Innercity Griots by Freestyle Fellowship

A West Coast Tribe Called Quest with scatting, rapid style changes across a pretty neat range of genres (lyrically and musically). It situates itself within the history of hip hop (and so-called "black musics" that preceded it) in surprising and evocative ways. "Inner City Boundaries"'s polystylism with flows and music and then the coda of the "Bomb Zombies" section and could on its own elevate any hip hop album to be an excellent release.

EDIT: Oh, lol, Skinny mentioned this. New goal is that my potential second nomination be something he hasn't heard. Wink

Yeah swede love you to death but that was my first thought too, tbh. I mean, I feel like most of us have heard that and it's alright, but as the best ever?

It's not even their best album. I think that as a group they are essentially one interesting idea, unfortunately overstretched by a lack of anything interesting to say or any gripping personality. Once you get past the novelty of hearing rapping over and next to some white noise and harsh static, there's very little beneath the surface. Their debut would struggle to get into my Top 100 hip-hop albums of this decade, and the album Suede nominated is significantly worse than that.

Could always be safe and pick my favorite hip-hop album out of the top 750 which is Below The Heavens, but instead I'm going to go with something that more people should talk about because it's fucking sick.

Eh, whatever. It's just a bizarre choice. Very flash in the pan.
