I’m almost certain of this. It was included on the Dog On Wheels Ep, but that wasn’t released until 97

I could be wrong tho, so if I am can somebody please provide proof of it being released as a single

You're right, RYM (which is what the tourney is using for dates) says it was never released as a single.

Yes, or the first track of an EP

Yeah part of B&s's agreement with jeepster was that they would only release non album singles...

Ugh!!!! Really? That takes away over half the team I eventually would have fielded. Laughing I do think this (unfairly) penalizes the underground & metal bands from the 80s which didn't have a lot of stuff released as singles.

My apologies. I got 1996 for "The State I Am In" from Pitchfork's top tracks of the '90s when searching for singles ideas, assumed everything on the list was released as a single, and didn't verify anything on discogs.

I think we can let that slide, can't we? The State That I Am in is a fantastic song that was released in '96... I don't see why we should penalize that.

It is against the rules. I mean, if we're just allowing any songs from a year to be eligible that changes everything.

I think that it should just be removed from that team. I dont think any votes would have shifted had their been a different single there, and from the looks of it, its a landslide anyway.

Revolver declined a rematch, so we'll have to settle with removing the single and giving Keith a side eye.

As you were.

Purple you naughty boy

Anyways, 2012 has four very strong albums (Eckstasis is terrific, especially on repeated listens, and The Seer, Blue Chips and Kindred are all quite delectable as well) and one I couldn't care less about (guess). And I gotta say this is the first singles team from my main man Revolver that's rather underwhelming, State of Grace is probably my favorite thing from it and that's not saying much (although Get Free and Mercy are catchy enough). A mixed Bag.

96 on the other hand is a killer from top to bottom. The OTC album is the only thing less than divine and that's still quite good, the singles are excellent (even without Belle and Sebastian), with mucho nostalgia joy for the No Diggity single. I gotta say this is an easy vote 96, sorry Revolver.

And I think this tournament definitely cements Kool Keith's status as the world's biggest Tortoise fan Laughing
