Sometimes I disappoint myself too Sad...

But if I were to compare those albums to albums above (in my opinion) I'm ok with the rank so that's how I sleep at night... hahaha.

Also I don't connect with A LOT of what normal people call their favorites/best of the 1970s... I don't know if it's because I have no direct connection with it (neither friends/family, etc. have ever influenced me in this direction and also wasn't alive to experience it) or what... but yes... my taste of the 1970s is much much different I suppose... sorry Sad

I think I'll disappoint a lot of people with my tastes in the 80s too.

Don't get me wrong, mate, tastes are not to be disputed Laughing

Knowing your charts and music interest a little, it's actually no wonder you're not that much into Berlin or Low.

I would think, though, that, let's see, Hunky Dory and Lust For Life are more up your street. And particularly Unknown Pleasures, for AllThingsBass Wink

Fo shizzle.

Also for this site I did rank Low and Three Imaginary Boys at 70 since I usually round up if over 66.5 if that makes you feel better Smile

Also if I were ranking according to strictly my opinion Exile on Main St. and London Calling and The Wall, and many others would make my top 10... but somehow there was enough "filler" that made it lose points which also slightly saddens me, but alas, I'm actually very happy with these results as I feel they reflect my true inner self if that makes any sense.

So since I have done so much work since February, I decided to put together a master list of albums above a 60. I also re-ranked albums above 75 with more "exact" scores (for the 50s and 60s I was rounding):

If anyone knows how to format this into something more readable let me know... it looks much better in a spreadsheet Smile.

This is after listening to 610 albums.

So I'm 41 albums into the 80s... and I'm finding my tastes of 80s albums are very different than this sites. The top 100 has this dichotomy of metal and punk vs "mainstream" alternative (as to opposed to like full on mainstream like Madonna).

I also have albums on my list that I think are pretty good, but are ranked in like the 2000s.

I also am realizing that my favorite punk/metal have counter parts that I can see are basically the same thing, but I like the one I have a "relationship" with. Like I like Metallica way more than Iron Maiden, R.E.M. way more than The Smiths, Minute Men way more than Dead Kennedy's, etc. yet at their root... they really aren't that much different than each other... not sure why that is other than maybe I'm more familiar with the favorite band?

Anyway, here's my review so far... don't hate... but opposing opinions are welcome Smile.

I can agree that Metallica and Iron Maiden share some metalness, REM and Smiths share some indiepopness, while Minutemen and Dead Kennedys share some punkness, but these are just broad terms which do not explain a lot.

For me the bands you mentioned are miles apart from each other, so it's no wonder you like one of them more than the other one.
