I do appreciate the endorsement, thank you. You know, it takes time to build up trust and reputation amongst a new community. I'm guessing if a new user signed up here and their first post was to start promoting another website, unless they presented their argument very well, they would be treated suspiciously as well. (That's different to a senior member here occasionally suggesting another site.)

BEA tackle this problem differently: new users here cannot post links during their first week, or before they have posted ten times. Most bots will start posting links straght away and if someone signs up to promote something, odds are they won't be bothered to make ten legit posts first. I know it might be a bit unfair on some new users but it keeps the forums spam free (mostly). After this period has elapsed, 99% of the time, all that's left are the kind of people that we want here.
However, if I'd paid $10 to sign up, I'd be just as pi$$ed as purple is if my post had been deleted. I think when you pay for something, the goal-posts move slightly and you are entitled to expect more. (BEA membership is free).
