A lot of people hate on Green Day, but the fact is both this album and Dookie are hugely influential and both great albums in their own right. Jesus of Suburbia is an epic song. Letterbomb is great, Homecoming is fantastic, St Jimmy rocks hard. It was a huge concept and they pulled it off pretty damn well.

I was 10 when this came out and I didn't like it then and don't like it now. The "story" makes no sense at all and the political message is very... vague. I would give it a 40/100 overall.

I think this album is brilliant and extremely listenable! I've stuck by these guys all throughout their career and I've enjoyed all of their albums. Rock on, Green Day!

I'm disappointed this album doesn't get the respect it so hugely deserves because this is easily the greatest non Lloyd-Webber rock opera of all time. The level of song craft here is impeccable; melodic, chordal and lyrical themes are introduced, built upon and combined so effortlessly it's breathtaking. As much as I love Pink Floyd and The Who for example, it makes their attempts at rock operas look superficial at best. The song "Letterbomb" is the most climactic point in any album ever.

Anyway, happy to see it as album of the day. I love you Green Day!

Meh, I'm also a bit tired of this album being trashed.

Yeah, yeah, it's "mainstream punk-rock for teenagers. Only people with bad taste in music listen to that stuff" sort of thing. But I find it a good album. If I didn't have my top 10 of 2011 on my chart, it'd be in my top 100 at #97.

It's fun, rebellious, fun to blast on a stereo, and a decent story. Also has a nice 'fuck you' punk-vibe.

I like it.
The public likes it.
Critics like it.

This site, does not like it. Sad

Ah well. I still like all the My Bloody Valentine, Joy Division, Talk Talk stuff too Mr. Green ....(and once I can understand the appeal of Sonic Youth, them too Embarassed )

I really don't know how it got that high on here Laughing 70/100 rating averatge, with constant comments on how much it sucks.
