As already mentioned, the most blatantly overlooked track would be "Abba Zabba."

His most viewed songs on YouTube:

1. Sure 'Nuff 'n Yes I Do
2. Ice Cream for Crow
3. Upon the My-O-My
4. I'm Gonna Booglarize You Baby
5. Safe as Milk
6. I'm Glad
7. Click Clack
8. Bat Chain Puller
9. Big Eyed Beans from Venus
10. Abba Zaba

Of course it doens't tell anything anyway.

Strange that not one of these is from TMR. And I would have expected "Electricity" to be there too.
But yeah, it doesn't.

The REAL list is:

My Human Gets Me Blues
Electricity
Her Eyes Are a Blue Million Miles
Moonlight On Vermont
Big Eyed Beans From Venus
Lick My Decals Off Baby
Ashtray Heart
Beatle Bones 'N Smokin' Stones
Tropical Hot Dog Night

But wait, that's just nine songs. Think Which one was the tenth?

Just 10 is near impossible. But for a career spanning selection, I'd take these to the desert island:

Electricity
Abba Zabba
Moonlight On Vermont
China Pig
Dachau Blues
Pena
Veteran's Day Poppy
Lick My Decals Off, Baby
Tarotplane
Making Love To A Vampire With A Monkey On My Knee

Applause Finally, Pena, her little head clinking like a barrel of red velvet balls, has made an appearance! Good choices, though it has a bit too much from TMR to make it balanced.

Omissions that offended me personally, which Rolling Stone is OF COURSE responsible for:
Abba Zabba
Yellow Brick Road
Dachau Blues (I get the complications in picking 10 Beefheart songs, but seriously, HOW DO YOU LEAVE THIS ONE OFF?)
Zig-Zag Wanderer

I'll admit that I don't know a lot of Beefheart besides the two biggies (TMR, SaM) and perhaps it shows that I'm a bigger fan of his more bluesy stuff, but goddammit, Dachau Blues is the tits!

Also, I don't think it was the opener, but Captain Beefheart DOES provide the only vocals anywhere on Hot Rats in the song "Willie the Pimp" and it IIISSS a scorcher!

Three people before you (including me) have said that same thing, that Dachau Blues should've been on there.

One mad man, six million lose.

I mean, c'mon, that's one of the greatest lines ever, in the history of music.

RS ommitted Dachau but included tracks from Clear Spot, the only non-Beefheart Beefheart album, if you get my drift?

Not a terrible list; I think two selections from Clear Spot is the strangest part. If we're talking capital E Essential, like in as for a non DVV fan, then I would have just added Abba Zabba. Anyways still waiting for the Van Vliet estate to start some crazy liscensing - Beefheart scented perfume, "Big Joan" on a Jenny Craig commercial, at list gimme some really expensive tie dye shirts with "fast and bulbous, got me?" written in cursive on the back.
