Outside of websites like this, The Smiths are the only band I have heard two different people say this for. I mean like saying in person. Interesing point to add: both vegetarians.

Pam mentioned MBV in the other thread already, but I think that their first EP (pre Bilinda) is fairly dull. Apart from that they have been pretty stellar.

Even if I give you a pass on Angles, I can't believe you can look me square in the eye and call First Impressions of Earth an "excellent" album.

No to all the above. And you forgot to list The Kinks.
I'll say Grant Lee Buffalo and Catherine Wheel simply because there's not a weak album in either band's catalogue (well, Wishville's a little underwhelming, but it's still good). But neither band made more than 5 studio albums nor did either really survive the 90s.
Depeche Mode was perfect from Speak & Spell (sorry haters, it's a great early electonic pop album thanks to Vince Clarke's songwriting) until Ultra. Exciter however was a nose-dive for them, Playing the Angel was mediocre, and Sounds of the Universe was much better than those but would rank middling in the rest of their catalogue. They really miss Alan Wilder is all I can say there.
Can't think of any long-running bands that I'd say had a perfect catalogue, nor did the Beatles who also didn't really make it out of their initial decade - once they got heavily into drugs their albums were a mixed bag of good songs and outright silly songs. _________________ <(: @ >

One thing though... What is a "perfect" catalog? All of artists releases being a "5 star" effort, or rather that all of them are at least "very good"? Because if it's the former, than there is no artist/band that would match this criteria (if they released more than.. two albums), unless in the eyes of a fanboy...

Duke Ellington
Louis Armstrong
Ray Charles
Stevie Wonder
Do any of the above count? If not, I'd say no one.
