Spare us the fucking history lesson we know what Stalingrad was, and I'm well aware that shit loads more Russians died than all the other countries put together. But if you're arguing the significance of the involvement of each ally then I don't see how talking about casualties tells the whole picture, else the Soviet Union's contribution shits all over that of the US aswell.
But yes Stalingrad was a huge moment in WW2, I'm not at all sure about what your dying in vain comment is all about. _________________ Shut up mate you're boring!

Agreed... and to add to it, 20,000,000 Chinese died in WWII. Getting close to Soviet numbers. Come to think of it, when we look at WWII, the USSR can take loads of credit for their role in defeating Germany, but they didn't do much to Japan (except invade Manchuria in the summer of 45). Don't get me wrong - the USSR did some hard-core heavy lifting in WWII. But they weren't alone.

Don't know what you're getting at Veg, no one ever said Russia did nothing. We were saying that you were wrong in implying only America and Russia did anything notable in WWII.

...but I thought you were applauding the Soviet's effort in stopping the Nazis. Defeating the Nazis was critical, wouldn't that overshadow the benefits of neutrality? Thank God the UK, USA and USSR weren't neutral.

I am from Germany and I think that the "Luftschlacht um England" was the turning point in WW II.
So in my opinion the Britains are very important.
But After Stalingrad the War was almost lost for the Germans, so the Russians might be the most important country.
