Even if she was more popular, she only has one album considered great, whereas Joni Mitchell has 3+, as well as many all-time great songs.

Don't you think that when Lisa is more popular, people will listen to the rest of her discography too, and realise that she also made other great albums?

I mean, some of this is subjective, but I don't think Lisa will ever reach Joni's 'legend' status in terms of critically (and commercially) acclaimed albums, live performances, tributes/covers (for her), singles, influence on other great artists, influence on music in general, etc., etc.

Look, as I said, both are great, and truthfully, I'd be sorry to see either of them go. So I don't really want to start a fight over who's better.
Replying to your post, one can never tell with these things. If more people listen to her, and like it very much, then who knows, maybe she will slowly creep up to fame.
And nobody cares whether Lisa reaches that 'legend' status or not. It won't affect people's opinion of her, will it?

No, but I would expect people to vote someone with a 'legend' status over a good up-and-comer.

I was totally with what you were saying until this ignorant statement. I can only assume you have never listened to Lisa Germano, nor know anything about her. She's been releasing music for over 20 years.

Why? Because they care more about what others think than what they themselves think? They care more about who's more popular than whose music sounds better to them?

I know what you mean, but the term 'up-and-comer' is a bit of an exaggeration. Lisa Germano has a better discography that Joni too, simply because Joni only have about 5 albums worth listening to, and Lisa has about the same. Except Lisa's are better.
