Blows my mind, the ungodly amount of "R.I.P. Michael Jackson" posts that were on facebook the day he died.
People loooove celebrity deaths. And what's with all these people rushing out to buy people's albums when they die? Do they think they're going to bury the CDs with the body? Wouldn't any Michael Jackson fan already have his albums? I find it very strange.

the man that showed us that zombies can be pretty good dancers (see Thriller's videos) is gone.
The man who taught gangs to fix their disputes through dancing (see Beat It video) is gone.
The man that slept with children (did they ever had sex?) and kept his artistic reputation is gone.
We'll carry on, I guess, but... Isn't it weird when a strange and slightly creepy guy is dead? _________________ Br1

i do share your antipathy for the self indulgent histrionics of the uninitiated attention seekers.. when i see people in the streets crying, then 'singing along' to billie jean without even knowing the tune let alone the lyrics, it becomes apparent something is up
i don't know where all this faux-grief comes from, but i find it weirder than michael jackson ever was.. _________________ no fat chicks

But it's not only business. I think in our spiritually empty world people have forgotten the cathartic power of worship. It seems like all people have these days are pop heroes to look up to, instead of Gods. I think what we're seeing is a primitive ritual playing itself out in modern times. I challenge anyone to come up with a more pretentious answer than that.
