Needledrop drives me crazy, something about him just irritates me. And he's reeeally not funny.

I'm not going to lie, I use Pitchfork a lot to find new music. It's just a good reference to have. Definitely disagree with them a lot, but I've found so much great music through them.

Agree with Needledrop mentions. DeadEndHipHop is good too.

Oh yeah I watched a bunch of their vids too.. But it irritates me that I always get the feeling that Myke is the only one who knows what he's talking about.

I do wish to find a critic I like, though.

The closest thing to your tastes would probably be the wire magazine:
http://www.thewire.co.uk/

Overall I don't use professional critics much anymore, I can find just as good if not better reviews on rym or other similar websites.

If I must I'll look at fact, the wire, scaruffi or metacritic.

I agree that the needledrop is kind of annoying.

Yeah I was subscribed but I just couldn't bear the whole "Hey guys, have you noticed how different, unconventional and crazy I am? Want me to remind you by faking laughing for no reason? Or how about a sudden zoom in with a colour change?!"

Which is a shame because what he actually had to say is actually well put out.

I don't really mind those things but they are a little annoying. I ignore them though and focus on what he has to say.

Pitchfork are the homies. The guy off The Needle Drop is a complete wanker.

Sometimes he annoys me, but I must say I find Cal Chuchesta pretty damn funny most of the time. Very thoughtful reviews overall, though I disagree with him probably most of the time.

Consequence Of Sound is my favorite overall, they usually are pretty spot on at least with my tastes.

Generally Robert Christgau is what I read when I want to read a review. His reviews are well thought out, uses insightful language, and straight to the point. Plus he has really short reviews. As for how he rates the albums, generally I agree with him on what's good and what's not. There are definitely some albums that I think are way better than he puts them out to be. Plus, he's an old dude that listens to just about everything. You don't see that too often.
