Also this album clearly has nothing on Everybody On My Dick Like They Supposed To Be, the true definer of Paul Banks' career.

You believe? That doesn't give a lot of credibility to your chart..

It's not that, I just like to be on the safe side of things, I'm just like that. I know it's on my chart (within the the top 40), I just put in the (I believe) because I adjust my chart according to how I feel at the time, and if I wasn't digging the album then, I might have removed it.

Bought the 10th Anniversary Edition last year; hence my like for the album. I cannot really pick one track that stands out because I think it works best as a whole album.

"I never get why people constantly bounce this album off of Joy Division. These people have succumbed to a kind of modern dadrocker argument in which good influential bands are better than good influenced bands because the good influential bands did it first; the only difference here is that this influential band was active a decade later than the golden age of dadrock. If you think of music in this way, then you'll never grow because you've got a bias towards decades of music. You're not even giving the music a chance, and you're viewing music as a history rather than an artform. I can understand saying this album sounds like Joy Division, and was influenced by Joy Division, because it does and is. However, the moment you make what should be a purely aesthetic critique of the album with the qualifier "not as good as/better than Joy Division," then I think you've really shorthanded yourself in the way you view music. And of course, this album will be better than or worse than Joy Division to you, but statements like this are often not purely aesthetic evaluations of the individual albums and subsequent comparisons, but comparisons for the sake of some influence."

Thanks for that. I was worried that I wasn't permitted to like this record and Joy Division. It's funny that someone who was in middle school or younger when this record came out would want to play Devil's advocate for old men everywhere.

It's number 4 on my greatest ever albums chart. A truly great record that I played to death ten years ago. Still hoping that one day the band can come up with an album that might re-capture it's brilliance!

I think you've made the exact opposite interpretation of what my post was intended to convey.
