I tend to picture whatever the lyrics are about. If I'm working out or pumping myself up for a project of some kind, I'll picture something motivational or exciting to me.

If it brings back a certain place or time, that's what I see
Mostly I see an inner film depicting the lyrics
The musicians in the studio or on stage
Sometimes the music video, if I know it
But always the same for the same song. Always.

I sometimes 'see' abstract imagery that represents how the song 'feels', but in all honesty that doesn't really happen all that often. My imagination isn't strong enough, I'm afraid. 
...Or maybe it just means I'm not on drugs. One or the other.

Sigur Ros: wide landscapes, flowers, wind, wild horses, ...
Heavy metal: power, friendship, ...
The National, Calexico: coming home, like as if they wrote the music for me.

No, it means I was drunk when I logged on last night and I couldn't comprehend what the fuck was going on in this thread for the life of me. It all makes (some sort of) sense now, though.
