Foxygen is something I do not like. I'll go listen to the other album, but it'll take quite a bit for me not to vote it.

Just finished Everything Is Good Here. The first two songs were fantastic, then it kind of slumps after that. Cute use of chimes though.

Love Angels of Light. Actually very much prefer them over Swans. and this album is a personal favorite along with The Angels Of Light Sing Other People

If I was to rank phases of Gira's career I'd put Angels of Light second only to the 80's swans material. I haven't got all the way through Sing other people yet, though Destroyer, on The Mountain and Lena's song all sound great.

People who like Everything is Good Here and have not heard other Angels of Light stuff should check out Sing Other People as well as How I loved You (which I think is often called their best, its a bit of a romantic concept album, and at times more strait-forward than Everything is Good Here)

I'm surprised that people are giving Angels of Light so much love and yet they totally get shafted in the charts. Legit question here. Why is that? Do people actually really love it and just forget about it when creating their charts?

Personally, I'd never listened to an Angels of Light LP before. And I also must admit that a great number of albums in the competition would have beaten Foxygen for me. Can't promise I'll vote Angels of Light at every matchup. Anyhow, it was a very good discovery and I will listen to more, and first, re-listen to this one. Might make one of my chart - something that Foxygen album will never do.

Yeah, I've only recently discovered the magic of Angels of Light (started listening late 2012/early2013, but immediately fell in love. I think as much as I appreciate Swans, I have a hard time listening to their records because they are so relentlessly dark. Angels of Light just perfectly fit my mood.

Angels of Light aren't a well known band. They appear in my decade and year charts but haven't quite landed on my overall chart. But that's only because they're a relatively new discovery for me, where I've lived with many of the albums on my overall chart for a good 20 or so years.

In fairness to Foxygen, I don't hate them. I think they're a pretty good 60s tribute band with a good sense of melody. But I also think time will not treat that record favorably. I know I like it less and less every time I hear it.

Also, for any fans of Akron/Family, it may be interesting to know that Akron/Family became the backing band for Angels of Light for the last few albums.

Angels of Light get my vote by not being Foxygen.
