Ui - Sidelong

Pram - Helium
Moonshake - Eva Luna
Laika - Sounds of the Satelites
Stereolab - Emperor Tomato Ketchup
To Rococo Rot - Veiculo
To Rococo Rot - The Amateur View
Ganger - Fore
Ganger - Hammock Style
Tarwater - 11/6 12/10
Kiln - Holo (does this even count?)
I'm still exploring the 'genre' myself, but its trashcan nature makes it really vast and amorphous. I'm not really the biggest fan of the post-hardcore or post-Lift-Yr-Skinny-Fists, crescendo-dependent sides of it, but if you like stuff like Tortoise, you should dig these.
I actually don't expect you to like most anything that's suggested though |
Come one, you know as well as I do that notion about me began as a joke. Overtime it seems to have become a fact or trope around here. I'm familiar with much on your own and Defago's list.
This will all do quite nicely. I'll pick something tonight If I can.

Most of what Defago and Purple said covers my favorite stuff. Post-rock albums on my chart include Lift Your Skinny Fists, Winter Hymn Country Hymn Secret Hymn, Spiderland, Laughing Stock, More Deep Cuts (I don't really consider post-rock but since Defago but it on his list I'll mention it), Field Of Reeds, Agaetis Bryjun, Hex, Deceit (Also not really post-rock but I feel like it was influential on the genre in some ways so I'll mention it), Deathconsciousness, Ocean Songs, Tarot Sport (Mainly electronic but it has a post-rock feel a lot of the time so yeah), Millions Now Living Will Never Die, Eva Luna, and Pacific UV. Oh, also Defago mentioned Hospice, which I feel the same way on that as More Deep Cuts but that deserves to be talked about.
Another post-rock album I recently listened to that may make my chart soon was D.I. Go Pop by Disco Inferno. Great album, pretty unique too.

Post-rock is the hardest fucking thing to define. It's basically when rock gets so experimental that it's not really rock anymore, but that's such a blurred line sometimes. Sigur Rós was post-rock up until Með Suð Í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust, which was mostly just regular indie rock, Valtari was ambient, and idek what to call Kveikur. Tired Sounds is ambient too. Stereolab is post-rock, but in a totally different direction (btw I see everyone mentioning ETK; check out Dots and Loops too, it's just as good). Hospice can be called post-rock for the most part. Hell, Blur's 13 is at least 1/3 post-rock (Caramel, Battle, 1992). _________________ kill yr idols

What's the difference between post-rock and prog-rock? They both seem to incorporate complex, if existent song structuring; often skew on experimental, tend to be lengthier in terms of track duration, and often borders and exceeds self-indulgence.
What others classify as post, I'd say I'm a fan of...
-The Antlers - Hospice
-Explosions in the Sky - The Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place
-Sigur Ros - Agaetis byrjun
-Sigur Ros - ( )
-Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven
-Swans - The Seer
-Swans - My Father Will Guide Me from a Rope to the Sky
-Slint - Spiderland
-Deafheaven - Sunbather
And other albums I can't think of at the moment.
