Anything by Jim Thirlwell has dark elements in it. Wiseblood and Steroid Maximus are two of his side projects to check.

Maybe the darkest thing I have listened to is Isolrubin BK's Crash Injury Trauma. Made from real crash site recordings.

Yeah. while I like some of the recommendations here, they haven't been all that dark. more melancholy than anything.

I was expecting people to be mentioning more sinister things like Swans, Sisters of Mercy, Throbbing Gristle, etc.

Tim Buckley's Lorca is a dark album that comes to my mind.

Clearly people have starkly different understandings of the word dark. Couldn't have guessed. You say dark, I think of Bauhaus and Einsturzende Neubauten and Lustmord and stuff.
