If you're not spending your eighteenth year at the club snorting drugs and screwing easy Asian freshmen girls in the bathroom then what ARE you doing for fun?

According to him, he's a "critic in training."

Really? I've read his writing and it leaves a lot to be desired.

JMan, if you want to become a professional critic you're gonna have to step up your game somewhat. I've been in an English lit pre-law program for a while now, and I'm a music journalist for my school's rag on the side, and I can tell ya you don't quite have the chops. Your writing isn't very expressive, visceral or imaginative - it's just kinda deadpan and redundant.

I know I'm redundant. Btw, here's a review I wrote for a bad movie called Sucker Punch. And trust me when I say, "If you know the plot to this movie, you know it's bad."

The plot sounds kinda weird, which would be cool if it were an RPG, but it's not. And in the end it all adds up to a possible nerd-heaven-hopeful film that includes dragons, guns, alternate dimensions, and babes in skin-tights and too much masquera bringing sex and kung fu to a special effects filled rip-off of Final Fantasy with a lot more cleavage.

Besides, I don't want to be JUST a critic. I'm writing a children's book about a kid who finds a toy ball that turns into a spaceship. It's based on a dream I had that was A LOT of fun.

But when writing REVIEWS, I'm redundant. Not AS redundant with my actual stories, but a little redundant.

Plus, when it comes to reviewing, I don't try to add spark or flare to my reviews. I just try to get my point across.

Jason could actually be a good writer. You've read his comments right?

The plot sounds kinda weird (this is highly ambiguous. Words like weird are known as "dead adjectives", they describe something without actually doing anything to describe it. You have to tell the reader HOW it is weird.[/i]), which would be cool if it were an RPG, but it's not. And in the end it all adds up to a possible nerd-heaven-hopeful film that includes dragons, guns, alternate dimensions, and babes in skin-tights and too much masquera bringing sex and kung fu to a special effects filled rip-off of Final Fantasy with a lot more cleavage (Run on sentence with little flow.).

Your grammar, spelling and vocabulary all need some work. Read some really verbose classics to work on that, look up any words you stumble across that you don't understand and try to work them into your everyday speech. You should also beef it up a little, add some personal insight, make your review interesting to read.

How I'd write it:

Sucker Punch proves that somethings just aren't translatable, as it culls its plot-line directly from any of a dozen second rate JRPGs and fails miserably. The film culminates in an all too tragic over-stimulating nightmare of borderline vanilla pornography and blinding, glittery kung fu that wishes it was sleek and breath-taking and comes off as just being confusing. The film is a patronizing, self-indulgent mess and quite clearly an attempt to wring just a few more drops from the moist, sticky toilette of male teenage geekdom.[/i]
