Beat The Devil's Tattoo by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
This got panned by Pitchfork and most BRMC fans don't seem to like it but it's my favourite release by them. _________________ "Drink beer, smoke pot, and create something that will storm heaven. That's all I ever really cared about." - Ron House

That isn't hated by critics at all. It may get flack from fans of quote unquote real hip-hop, but I think it's largely seen as a modern classic on account of it being the definitive crystallisation of a certain sound and attitude. It is the modern day equivalent of It's Dark and Hell Is Hot. It's certainly a product of its time, but in that respect it's one of the very best. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Couldn't of gotten panned more than The Effects of 333. Though Howl is my favorite thing they've done ever.

Let's not forget that many of the albums we consider classic today were once panned by critics.

For me, it depends on who is the critic, and really much on the arguments he uses.
If they are good, I may realize that an album I love so much has some weacknesses, in that case I'll be thankful to that critic for that, as I can understand better if a person doesn't like it, etc., but I'll be loving that album anyway. On the other hand, a great, passionated review can change my negative opinion on an album, whether if it's by a critic or a friend.
But sometimes the arguments are not that good and it seems that critic is saying an album is bad only because other critics said that, or other reasons. Muse are one of my favourite bands and many critics say shit about them. I agree about the last albums being average, though. About Absolution, I'm glad it's the top ranked here by them because it's also my favourite, but I read a review, on a italian musical site, that said really bad things about the album. Well, I think it's ok until these things appear totally pointless and forced. Saying, for example, "Interlude" is only "noise" (in the bad meaning) is pointless, expecially if we're talking about a site that doesn't focuses its attention on melody. Also, saying the songs are "empty" doesn't mean anything.
I find the same site always saying, about albums they rate bad, that those artists have no ideas. Always, it seems it's the only thing they can tell you about the songs. These things really piss me off.
Oh, I also love "The Final Cut" (prob thanks to a friend who always tell me great things about it) and "Pablo Honey".

Last Night On Earth by Noah And The Whale
I rather be influenced by what a friend can say about an album, than what a critic does, but bah, at the end we are all influenced in some way. _________________ "Hurry Up, We're Dreaming"

I don't hate it, it was a pretty big album for me in 2012, and I still think it has some really fun pop tunes.
Honestly I dont' think critics get it wrong that often, their bigger mistake is what they choose to ignore.

Yeah, that Noah And The Whale record was pretty light-hearted fun.
