I've got a PMP (personal media player) from this Korean company, COWON. It is touch screen and it plays video really well. 160 Gig. I can also use it as a hard disk, so getting stuff off of it is simple. That was my selling point. IPods have restraints in regards to that.

I'd prefer to upload my music to the internet (in some private area) and then play/stream it from there rather than from my iPod. It gives you unlimited potential storage, allows multple devices to share the same music library, plus it will be visible from anywhere as long as I'm connected to the internet...
Does anybody know if this is possible? (I'm guessing I'd need something server-side to act as a media server) |
Both Amazon and Google now have services to do just that. Have you looked into either of those, Albummaster?

yes, I think I wrote this before those services became available but I've had a look and, tbh, I'm not comfortable uploading to either of those services. there's some good articles comparing these services (and they've all got pitfalls):
Apple - 5 GB limit, need iOS or iTunes (not platform independent), $$ annual fee needed for extra storage.
Amazon - $$ annual fee for extra storage, but looks less restrictive than iTunes
Google - still in beta

I think my ideal is my own music hosted on my own media server in the cloud. I don't think the third parties really add much to the story.

For me its' the Ipod. Right now I have a 7GB Ipod, but I'm considering upgrading to either a 32GB or 160gb in the future.

I could certainly say a lot of things.
Like about how they charge more for good quality songs. And their idea of "good quality" his 320 at tops. _________________ A dick that's bigger than the sun.
