The blue break beats series on blue note records was probably my introduction and way in to jazz. Other than that just light a fat one and stick on

As I've already stated, I have listened to bitches brew. I did really like it though so your recommendation isn't exactly bad. Thanks anyway Smile

Miles Davis (Kind of Blue, Bitches Brew)

I know you're looking for more artists, but check out this one by him:

In A Silent Way by Miles Davis

The title track is stunning! It's very different from Kind of Blue and Bitches Brew. Sounds more astral, but it's wonderful!!!

the transition from more contemporary popular music choices is typically easier with more modern selections, as supported by most of the recommendations in this thread, but equally enchanting are more distant lexicons such as the pre-war era, with such icons as King Creole, Jelly Roll Morton, Bix Beiderbecke, Paul Whiteman, and others; the vocal jazz sound, which is all to often dismissed, featuring Billie Holiday, Nat Cole, Chet Baker, Valaida Snow, Mildred Bailey, and others; and the Japanese swing era, one of my favorite lesser-explored territories, with artists such as Ichiro Fujiyama, Shizuko Kasagi, Koichi Sugii, Fumiko Kawabata, and Teiichi Futamura
