Why did I even go to a light show? That shouldn't even be a thing.

I think of this album as an achievement in production rather than performance/songwriting. Not that I'm a huge prog expert or anything but shouldn't King Crimson and Yes render Floyd unnecessary?

No because prog is an idea as much as it is a genre. You don't have to be a virtuoso to play prog, but rather have ideals of a virtuoso. All three are valid prog bands for different reasons.
EDIT: Rather, be able to express your ideals like a virtuoso. _________________ Attention all planets of the solar federation: We have assumed control.

if king crimson had one gazillion imitators and pink floyd didn't, would you stand by this comment?
genuinely curious.
edit: obviously king crimson and yes are incredibly popular bands who have had imitators, but can their influence (on your average mainstream listener) really be compared to floyd? _________________

It's cool, I guess. I dunno if I'll ever listen to it again for the rest of my life, though.

It does have a nice swampy vibe, and looking past the "we are smart and we just solved life" lyrics, there are quite a few lines that still manage to touch a nerve.
No-one told you when to run
You missed the starting gun
Okay Floyd, you got me.

From a production standpoint, I completely agree with this sentiment. _________________ Overall - The 2010's - 2020
