The Cure made exactly one song I think is classic. Let's Go to Bed. I don't like anything they did after that.

You really prefer Let's Go to Bed to Inbetween Days, Just like Heaven or Lovesong ?

Wonderwall.

I want to die whenever this song comes on in public. I'm British so it happens now and then.

lol so I don't figure if you're saying it's great or rubbish (I hope the latter)

Fake Plastic Trees. Radiohead
Hotel California. Eagles
Hurt. Nine Inch Nails
There is a Lght that Never Goes Out. The Smiths

Fake Plastic Trees. Radiohead

Sublime. But you wouldn't expect to see it next to What A Wonderful World in a list of classic songs

Hotel California. Eagles

Bit overplayed maybe but I can understand why it's considered a classic

Hurt. Nine Inch Nails

nine inch what lol

There is a Light that Never Goes Out. The Smiths

An anthem. A classic anthem by The Smiths but hardly up there as an all-time great

Heroin. Velvet Underground

A good VU song but that's about all

Fake Plastic Trees is the best Radiohead song and the best song of the 90's.

ok, so I'd say :
The Smiths : "This Charming Man"
The Cure : "A Forest"
Morrissey : "The First of The Gang to Die" (not really a classic)

Sacrilege!!!! I love all those songs. Ok the first 2 for sure. The Gang one ain't a classic I agree

My choice would be Wonderwall by Oasis. I like many of their songs but that one is a moaning-faced dirge. Can't understand why it's their most popular song. Maybe a lot of folk are miserable lol.

There are many others but can't think right now

Although I can't understand why Suspicious Minds is one of Elvis's most popular songs. I prefer Can't Help Falling in Love and Mystery Train.

Also the lyrics to In My Life are great but the tune is decidedly average. Strawberry Fields takes the cake for me every time.

Do forgive me for being an opinionated old thing!

I'm not aware that I like anything by Oasis whatsoever. And this has been keeping me fit and healthy for years.
