I think there's like a 100 of us now.

Seriously, hockey has more fans down here than you would think. And some of them are pretty rabid. It's nothing compared to the northeast of course. I think the Lightning have move fans here than the Rays do.

The worst thing for the NHL down here was the lockout with the missed season was the year right after the Lightning won the cup. There was quite a bit of interest and they could have put a pretty good team together for another run. The one year break gave a lot of those new fans time to find something else to do.

Oh yeah that is horrible timing. Yeah the Rays have been a very competitive team for 4 or 5 years now and still can't sell out, it's pathetic. The series with the Bruins and Lightning in '11 was fantastic, and that place was loud, so yeah obviously there are a decent amount of fans down there which is pretty cool.

Right - I've got some hockey pools this weekend, so I'm starting to feel it a little more...

Bold Predictions:

WEST

1. LA (hangover offset by weak division)
2. STL
3. Van (Squeaks ahead in NW dogfight)
4. Chi
5. Edm (A billion goals for offsets weak D)
6. Min
7. Col
8. Nas
9. Det
10. Phx
11. Cal (Please realize what you have and rebuild.)
12. SJ
13. Ana
14. Dal
15. Clb (Seriously - I feel sorry for their dozen fans)

Really, only Dallas and Columbus are terrible, and none are powerhouses.

EAST

1. Pit (Super stacked. I hate it.)
2. Bos (Still as strong as cup winners.)
3. Was (Weak division saves their bacon)
4. NYR
5. Phi (Ugh. Makes for another hellish 1st round matchup)
6. Fla
7. Tor (Assuming they trade for a goalie)
8. NYI (I'm not kidding.)
9. Buf
10. Ott
11. NJ
12. TB
13. Car
14. Wpg
15. Mtl

Opposite of the West - there are 4 powerhouses (Pit, Bos, NYR, Phi) and a bunch of crap.

Playoffs:

WEST final - LA over Van in 6
EAST final - Pit over Bos in 7

Stanley Cup - Pittsburgh over LA in 6.

Thoughts? Am I right? On crack? Don't care?

Honestly outside of the Bruins I'm not nearly as well versed as you seem to be, but this looks pretty good. Wouldn't at all be surprised if that was the final 4.

A few things I don't agree with. Like the islanders. That's a ballsy choice. Especially with their d being pretty awful.

I'll do my picks a little later

It was mostly because I didn't like anyone outside the top 6. Even the Leafs were a stretch. Maybe Buffalo or TB if their goaltending holds up can squeak in.
