Are you really giving all music the same chance?

I guess I don't really enjoy the music I listen to, it's all a facade to look hip. You got me all figured out, an_outlaw.

Pretty much everyone who has commented so far fits the elitest/snobbish attitude I imagined as I wrote this. I suppose what I said can be summed up as people are taking music far too seriously. Taking it seriously in a pseudo-intellectual way.

it wouldn't be that big of a deal if so much shit wasn't popular, like from 1920 to the 1950s you didn't have to worry about running into total shit when you left the house, in this country there is shitty music everywhere.

i just wish they would shove frank sinatra or tony bennet down my earholes instead of fucking three doors down or whatever is on these pop stations these days.

nearly everyone is bad

take your band for example, i don't really like them but they are ok to me and i would much rather listen to them then 99.4 percent of what the masses listen to

I'm totally biased against certain genres, and I have no problem admitting that. But it doesn't have to do with what others think of them, it has to do with the fact that I don't like them.

No, as it's impossible to listen to 'all' music, I'd like to be able to give all music a fair chance but there's just too much out there, this causes people to write off things without even trying them even if they may very well actually like it, everyone does it, be it intentional or not, on the plus side, I feel the majority of people on this site actually do attempt to go outside their comfort zone and listen to new music that they wouldn't have tried otherwise, which I believe that the recent tournaments have shown here. (I'm not sure if 'm still making sense...)

Also, I find it weird when people write off certain genres. After all, every artist sounds different.

While this is true, I think it's fair to have a bias against a certain genre. For example, I generally don't like country. I'm willing to give any country artist a try before I write them off as shit, but I'm not exactly going to go out of my way to find all of the country artists I would actually enjoy.

It seems a lot of us don't want to waste our lives listening to shit we don't like. Good luck with that!
