No. I'll explain it again. Any band member can join, even if they've been in a solo act. They just have to be part of a whole band where every band member is known, even if little. No solo acts like Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson, Chuck Berry, anything. A member of a whole band can be nominated. Examples: anyone from Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Beatles, The Who, anything. Even Eric Clapton from D&TD can be nominated.

Oh, so it's a "Best Well-Known Musician who has at one point or another been in a band" tournament. I don't see how that's any less arbitrary.

No, wait, a "Best Well-Known Musician who has at one point or another been in a band in which every other member is well-known, too" tournament. If arbitrariness were made of strawberries, we'd all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now.

The rule is this: unless the nominee has been in a full band and released an album, the person can't be nominated. It's not arbitrary, and it's called 'Best ever Band Member Tournament" and nothing else. If I added solo careers, I might as well call it "Best Ever Musicians" Tournament. But it's strictly for band members. If a solo act person has been in a band, he/she is eligible and must be credited ONLY for the bands.

It's a tournament that judges how vital each nominee was to his band. Better explenation. How vital was Cobain to Nirvana? Or Jimmy to Led Zeppelin? Or what about Lindsay Buckingham to Fleetwood Mac?

Okay, this makes a little more sense. I still think a general "Best Musician" or individual "Best [insert instrument here] Player" tournaments would make more sense, simply because "how vital each [member] was to his band" is part of being a great musician, in my opinion, but whatever people wanna do.

EDIT: Also, 2000th post!

Yeah this, "Best solo artist" sounds the most interesting, but thats just me.

Also, say I nominate Feist, since she was a member of Broken Social Scene. Would her solo work count?

I think I actually understand the rules.

Paul McCartney could be nominated for how beneficial he was for the Beatles, whereas Chuck Berry would not be because he wasn't in a band.

Right?
