They could both champion muse.

Wouldn't that defeat the purpose though, having multiple champions? If there were 6 Muse champion, wouldn't the theoretical bar of knowledge be lowered enough that any old muse fan could be a "champion".

Well, I've put my case forward, and any other contender would do the same. An independent adjudicator could decide the result. .

The problem with this, is that is there a real way to determine who's a better "champion"?. I don't know what knowledge this outside person would have, that could decide who he or she would pick.

Set a limit to only 2 (or 3) champions for the same band.

This suddenly looks like a bad idea, or one that is just nearly impossible to implement effectively. How about we all just know who is knowledgeable about what bands, and just seek those people out as they are needed. I think most of us know each others' musical strengths at this point.

But say 3 people are picked to champion a band, then later on a person joins who's super knowledgeable about that band, much more so than the 3 champions. Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of the champions, since they aren't the most knowledgeable?

Sorry if it seems like im hating every solution, im just trying to show the negatives, I actually think this is a good idea if we work out the kinks.

If I got this right, to go through the Champions idea we first need to go through THIS again?

It's not a question of who is the biggest fan, merely the most knowledgeable about what draws people to the band.

For instance, I really like Glasvegas, but I don't really know why. It just clicks for me.
Meanwhile, I know exactly why I like Talking Heads, and can comfortably and easily elaborate on many points about what makes them unique and worth listening to.

What risk? And there's no reward, any more than having your own Best Albums chart.

Hmm that would be problematic.

No worries, it's better to know the solution to a problem now rather than later.

I don't think it's a good idea, but that's me. Maybe if we gangbang the thought around a little longer it will flesh out.
