Joy Division is the greatest band name ever, no one will ever top that

As for song names, this is the best for me

Four Tet – ‘The Track I’ve Been Playing That People Keep Asking About and That Joy Used in His RA Mix and Daphni Played on Boiler Room'

The Fall have some great song titles. No Xmas For John Quays, Jawbone and The Air-Rifle, Who Makes the Nazis, Susan Vs Youth Club, The Man Whose Head Expanded, Spoilt Victorian Child, How I Wrote Elastic Man, Bingo Masters Breakout. They should get some kind of award for song titles just for writing a song called Industrial Estate.

Fun fact on the story behind their name. Once upon a time, a punk band which sounded a lot like Half Japanese but using Ramones chords formed. They weren't sure what to call themselves, but because 2 of the original guys involved in writing and playing the music were jewish they decided it would be ironic to call themselves "Sweet Baby Jesus". When it came time to release their first album, they dropped the "Jesus" to just become "Sweet Baby".

Meanwhile, a band called "Sweet Children" formed 1 year after Sweet Baby Jesus had officially "formed" (though they'd been playing music together as a band in a garage for some time before then). Sweet Children was just a band of 15 year old kids out to make some punk music. When the kids turned 16, they were signed to Lookout! Records, a label in my area that Sweet Baby was already signed to. Before the kids released their new album, they wanted to change their name so people didn't think they were Sweet Baby - they went with "Green Day" because of their love of pot.

My dad was one of those original jewish members of Sweet Baby Jesus.

So in a really indirect way, my dad is the reason Green Day is called Green Day.

Yeah, but they stole them all from The Fall. Ask Mark E Smith if you don't believe me!
