I've never done one of those so I don't quite know what you mean, but I might be up for this, I do have Civ V
Essentially the game is set up so it emails a file to each player as the turn ends that they open to play their turn. The game goes as fast as people are able to take their turns, so games usually last months/years, but it's a fun thing to do on the side.
This got me thinking, do enough people here own Civ IV/V that we could get one of those painfully long 'play by email' games going? With custom named Civs and Leaders it could be quite fun.
I'd be all down for BEA Civ V tournament but I have no patience for play by email

TBH this sounds better than traditional games for a tournament on here, I don't always have the hours to spend. _________________

Its seeing a pretty exciting revitalization this year because competitive SC2 has largely folded
Lots of pretty high level tournys being held with healthy prize pools.
if you havent seen any competitive BW why not have a look. you might not know exactly know whats going on but i think the energy is pretty engaging
and a English cast to maybe shed you some light on whats going on, I dont usually watch BW with English announcers so they might not be the best ones out there but they do a decent job
