EDIT: By the way, I don't think any of these genres are mediocre, I was just reacting to an unnecessarily dismissive comment. I'd love to see any of these genres picked. Voted for drum'n'bass though. |
Oh boy I can do that too.
*whines about me whining about genres*
*decides to specifically pick the two I selected as mediocre*
Honestly, that list of genres is super unappealing to me. Probably some of my least favorites to be honest.
Sorry, not sorry. _________________

Anyway, I'm very much in favor of sticking to subgenres or genres that are narrow in scope. So far, the threads have tended to focus on picking out the highlights of the genre/subgenre and I think this would get unwieldy if we tried to do something like post-punk or house/techno. For those more interested in the detailed historical development, you're probably better off with a documentary or a history text (also, hopefully I'll return to my history thread at some point in the future when I have more time). |
Yep....cause these are the only sub-genres to pick from.
Since when is "Country" a sub-genre?
Go on... _________________

What are you talking about? That second paragraph had nothing to do with you and I never said country was a subgenre.

Because the first paragraph was in response to you, silly.

Come on guys, Indie Pop cannot win this. I'm pretty sure the aim is to delve into genres were not familiar with, rather than the genres we are the most familiar with.

This is why we are doing it. And how can you discriminate against whole genres? In all of these (except for Drum & Bass and House/Techno, which I hope win because I am very, very uneducated in them) I love quite a few albums from each genre, despite not hearing that many in some.

My bad, I didn't read your mind to assume that. _________________
