Thanks! I definitely hope to get in a Rockies game this season, hopefully against the Mets. It kills me to see the Mets have a great season the year I leave NY. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

Well, you know it's all because you left! They were waiting for you to go!

not so far, but he's fine, he'll turn it around, as will Kluber and Sale. All of their sabremetrics point towards a great improvement _________________ 2023 Chart

Now that we are at about 120-130 plate appearances in, things are starting to flesh out a bit, so here's my updated NL MVP Race. Tomorrow I'll do the AL MVP race.
NL MVP
1. Adrian Gonzalez (1B, LAD)
PREV: 3
Strengths: 9HR, 29 RBI, .484 wOBA, winning ballclub
Weaknesses: Possible vote split with Pederson
2. Paul Goldschmidt (1B, ARI)
PREV: 2
Strengths: 9HR, 27 RBI, 6 SB, .459 wOBA, 1.9 WAR
Weaknesses: Non-winning ballclub
3. Bryce Harper (RF, WAS)
PREV: n/a
Strengths: 11 HR, 29 RBI, 19.6 BB%, .446 wOBA
Weaknesses: Defense, 26.6 K%, Hot/Cold
4. Joc Pederson (CF, LAD)
PREV: n/a
Strengths: 9 HR, 22.8 BB%, .435 wOBA, 1.9 WAR
Weaknesses: Split with Gonzalez, 32.5 K%
5. Anthony Rizzo (1B, CHC)
PREV: 5
Strengths: 7 HR, 19 RBI, 7 SB, 12.3 K%, .442 wOBA
Weaknesses: Overshadowed by Bryant, Stacked Position
6. Joey Votto (1B, CIN)
PREV: 1
Strengths: 7 HR, 20 RBI, 14.2 BB%
Weaknesses: Still slightly overrated by contract standards, Stacked Position
7. Dee Gordon (2B, MIA)
PREV: n/a
Strengths: 12 SB, High Defense, 12.3 K%, 2.2 WAR
Weaknesses: Non-sexy position for voters, Non-winning ballclub
8. Matt Carpenter (3B, STL)
PREV: 6
Strengths: 20 RBI, .431 wOBA, 1.8 WAR, Strong ballclub
Weaknesses: A lot of numbers good, not great
9. Nolan Arenado (3B, COL)
PREV: 4
Strengths: 7.5 K%, 6 HR, .397 wOBA
Weaknesses: Losing ballclub, behind pace in PA
10. Giancarlo Stanton (RF, MIA)

From everything I've seen, he's played pretty great defense this year. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

He will make up the PA's. He plays every day...the team has just played fewer games due to rainouts.
Losing ballclub? Yeah... _________________ May we all get to heaven

It's kind of funny that the Mets are in first place and there's not a single everyday player that really stands out as even remotely MVP worthy at this point. Maybe Duda, but he's slowed down. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

While I think he's having an incredible year, it's gonna slow down, especially the power.
His HR/FB rate is stupid high, 23.1% compared to his career 15.5%. That, plus the fact that his Isolated Power is at .357 (which is just an ungodly level) compared to his career .210, his home runs will come down a bit.
I'd say he'll finish the year batting about .305 with 28-30 HRs with 85-90 runs and 90-100 RBIs. Still, no slouch of a season, and maybe still even an MVP year, but not nearly what he's having now. Not a bad pick though.
How about Cy Yong votes? I'm gonna make a bold call and say Michael Pineda ends up winning the AL Cy Young. His stats are insane and his control is absolutely ridiculous _________________ 2023 Chart

His career numbers reflect having played mostly in San Diego. So there is actually room to increase his averages, even playing in LA. _________________ May we all get to heaven
