My Comfort Zones are Indie and Alternative rock (Really don't know what they actually mean), Prog, Classic Rock, Post-Rock, Shoegaze, Ambient and . . .
Also you might want to check out a distinct genre of "World Music" (meaningless though) from Azerbaijan and Iran and also Xinjiang (called Mugham in Azerbaijan, Muqam in Xinjiang (Kashgar) and Traditional Music in Iran):
Hip-Hop is my comfort zone. Also funk, jazz-funk, soul, neo-soul. And UK garage, deep soulful house, future garage, early dubstep. I'm also pretty comfortable listening to blues-rock, Bob Dylan, the Grateful Dead, indie pop.
I'd really like to get more into hardcore punk. I like a lot of what I've heard but am yet to immerse myself in it.
I enjoy some renaissance music...its good celebration music. I would even go to a Renaissance Festival.
My comfort zone is very clearly Classic Rock and Heavy Metal. _________________ Support your favorite artists...BUY your music!

How about lowercase? Look up Forms of Paper by Steve Roden - it's an album that's consists entirely of the sound of paper being shuffled. Except, the sounds are played with in such a way that they sound absolutely nothing like paper. Makes for some pretty great ambient minimalism - if you're into that whole sort of shtick. I listen to it whenever I want to get some work done.
Also, you could check out some Japanoise. Look up Forgotten Land by Merzbow - which is pretty much the polar opposite of lowercase. Just make sure you have your speakers on low when you listen to him.
Nice recommendations. I like them both.
This is a great thread you've got going here; also I look forward to your chart.
My comfort zone would be quite slow, light music in the grand scheme of things. I like music that makes me ponder or whim - whilst I really enjoy music from bands like Pearl Jam or Nirvana I don't really have the desire to turn my music up really loud and be all like "AAAWWW HEEEWWWLL YYEEEAAAH!"
I'd really love to explore some African music, but I'm not sure where to start.
