I'd be happy with Beyonce. I've watched a couple of her live sets and they were all pretty good, especially her Glastonbury Set. You could do a lot worse than Beyonce and she's probably the best pop person you'll get (unless Katy B or Jessie Ware all of a sudden have a surge in popularity on your campus). She's got an incredible voice and a lot of good songs, so it'll be good if you're a fan and tolerable if you're out. Otherwise, I think the others are right, The Black Keys are probably you're best bet. Not great, but they place nice altrock that appeals to a lot of people. Personally, Janelle Monae or Japandroids would be at the top of my list for more modern acs.. They're two of the better live acts I've seen in a while (at least in videos. I'm not one for concerts, really).

Wait, do you honestly believe that Macklemore is better than My Bloody Valentine.

I enjoyed his album The Heist, not too sure about the general consensus, but all I know is that i listened to the album and enjoyed it.

EDIT: As an edit, realize that when I say pretty good I mean there's something more to them than what most people think. I'm not saying everybody will enjoy Macklemore, but outside of "Thrift Shop", there's a lot of potential.

I honestly find 'Thrift Shop' more tolerable than anything from The Heist. Please refrain from comparing him to Eminem. I'm not even a fan of Eminem, but to say that Macklemore is in any way reminiscent of Em is an insult to the man's talent.

Jeezus we have some snobs on here. People really think they're better than other people because of what they listen to? That's sad.

He's not calling someone dumb because of their opinion on which music is better than which. He's calling someone dumb because they're acting like it should be obvious which music is shit and which music isn't. And talking about those who choose to like particular music as inferior.

Like what you like people, but mocking people who like something you don't, or which a majority of like-minded peers find stupid, doesn't give you the upper hand, it just makes you look like a snobbish bully. Music is love, and learning to accept different opinions, including those wildly different from your own, is the first step towards truly respecting music in all it's different guises.
