I went towards my better judgement. The album was clearly very well made, and I'm not going to dump it just because I enjoyed it a little. I found out what the hype was about.

Others have brought up the notable ones, both here and not here, but the one missing is Up the Bracket by The Libertines. I think it's far superior to the Arctic Monkey's debut. I like the more pop-ish lyrics of Up the Bracket and to me, most of the Arctic Monkeys songs sound kind of the same. It's also the brit version of Is This It in a way I guess. Others that need mention (some more recognizable, some not):

Fever to Tell- Yeah Yeah Yeahs
You Forgot it in People- Broke Social Scene
Boy in Da Corner- Dizzee Rascal
Metro Area- Metro Area
Arular- M.I.A.
Though for Food- The Books

My main choice, however, would be Since I Left You. Also my #1 of the decade.

Whatever People Say I Am has become an all time favorite for me over the past year, so that takes the cake. Is This It a close second.

Dude those are some great ones! Damn! I'd say the 2 that I recall having a lot of hype (like the ones on this poll) and having a somewhat similar style and similar influences to these are Fever To Tell and Up The Bracket . Totally shoulda included those 2. The others you mentioned I've either never heard, herd of or are so different (like The CLASSIC debut by avalanches and the debut by The Books) that I just can't think with having them in this poll for the same reason I didn't include Funeral.
