Why? Jay Farrar sounds like it is his job to sing you to the end. "may the wind take your troubles away, both feet on the floor two hands on the wheel, let the wind take your troubles away."
"too much livin is no way to die"
"it's now or never too close to the latter, we're all living proof that nothing lasts, here for now and transient tomorrow."
I feel like Tarot Sport by Fuck Buttons would be a great album to die to. Aside from that I'd probably just go with If You're Feeling Sinister or Loveless because those feel like good final albums.
If it were just one song, it'd have to be Flaming Lips - Feeling Yourself Disntegrate.
I shit you not you had me tearing up just imagining going to that song. That would be a great one.
I'd probably want to go with my favourite song though. Barbara Bonney's performance of the Franz Schubert's "Ave Maria."
As for an album, if I was feeling cheeky enough I might go with The Unicorns' Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone?, as it ends with "Ready to Die." I doubt that though. So maybe Funeral as it's my favourite, and the last minutes of "In the Backseat" would be a powerful end to my life. But I might want to go with my favourite album to fall asleep to - Ágætis byrjun.
Adding in something that most likely none of you wanted to hear - I once tried to kill myself. I chose "Fake Plastic Trees." _________________ kill yr idols
those tender, but also emotionally edged lullabies will make me sleep in tears(and also in peace) _________________ If you're feeling sinister, Go off and Listen to Indie Pop
I would listen to Death Cab for Cutie's Plans. Many of the songs are about dying and death. "I Will Follow You Into the Dark" is what I want to be played at my funeral. Hopefully there is a heaven or a hell because I don't want to be wandering around as a ghost . "What Sarah Said" has a really profound line that sums up life: "Love is watching someone die." Ouch. "Soul Meets Body" is not really about death, but it's spiritual in a way: "I want to live where soul meets body / and let the sun wrap its arms around me." Overall, I think this album would help me accept my fate and rock me to my final sleep. _________________ Seraph Mountain

I seriously considered this one. It's so gorgeous, and I think going out with a song like "Stable Song" would be amazing.
