Italy. The pizzas I've eaten in Florence and Rome far surpass any pizzas I've eaten in Birmingham or California or Paris, although I did have a lovely pizza in Mouleydier near Bergerac just a couple of weeks ago. There are a few places in London that come close (Fireazza is to die for), but Italy is by far my favourite. Of the regular takeaway places we get in England (not counting Fireazza, given it only operates in Central London), it would be Papa John's > Domino's > Pizza Hut. Got to be a thin base though, fuck that thick doughy shit.

agreed. I've eaten at a few of the "best" deep dish places in Chicago, but most of the time the thick doughy pizzas are crap. plus deep dish is hardly what i call pizza, even when it's good.

Don't get me wrong, I've loved most of the real deep dish I've eaten. I just have a hard time calling it pizza. Both of my brothers have been living out there for the last 10-15 years, so they take me to hidden gems when I'm out there, and it's delicious.

Understandable. I've grown up on it, so it's difficult for me to consider it anything other than pizza. When I have a craving for pizza, I usually choose a nice deep dish restaurant because I haven't found a good thin crust in Chicago.

I think I'll order some tonight. Mr. Green

Yeah, i've had one thin crust pizza in Chicago and it was pretty bad, so I'd definitely prefer the deep dish if i were there too.

There's plenty good pizza in different styles:

- Chicago style, best at the original Gino's East on the North Side. I voted for this one, although it isn't really pizza. It's pie. Best thing about it is that it takes at least 45 mins to make so there is ample time to finish off your first pitcher of beer.
- Thick American style, best at Slugger's Pizza in Silvis, IL. Lots of dough which requires lots of toppings.
- Italian thin crust style. While there are several good places for this in Italy of course, on average you are much more likely to get a bad quality Italian pizza there than in, for instance, France, Sweden, Spain, or Italian-American restaurants in the US. Actually, if you just pick a pizza place on random, you are more likely to get a bad pizza in Italy than a good one. Thin crust works better than the other styles for snazzed up pizzas.

Dominos, Pizza Hut, Papa John's and the like are only good for greasing up a dehydrated system at 3am.

Got free Domino's all the time when I worked there and never got bored of it, definitely good enough to eat sober. Doesn't mean that much from me though, I eat a lot, especially pizza, and I'm not fussy.
