As for me, I'm currently in the middle of Arrested Development, not sure what to watch once that's over though... |
Well, it's not like I could understand most of Friends' humor since it was airing through the first ten years of my life.
I've only gotten through the first four episodes so far. My favorite is The One with George Stephanopoulos.

My girlfriend got me hooked on what might be one of the guiltiest pleasures I've ever sat down to watch for four and a half seasons and counting...

eek. not looking forward to that. i will say there's been a noticeable dip with season five so far. the first four seasons could have been the extent of the series and i would have been pretty satisfied (though the first season is undeniably the best one on its own), and the fifth season seems like it was born of last-minute approval and quick reassembling of characters. (spoilers i guess if you care and are behind me on this series) like i thought it was dumb that Bates and Karen moved in together, because we got very little in the way of development on that, and time skips are generally pretty lazy and take a lot of finesse to make something genuinely exciting and new. i like that we can see new problems for the characters, i suppose, and i'm glad i'm not just being subjected to "Hank fucks someone and hijinks ensue and oh by the way he's a family man look at his tears and his family's tears" formula again, but Charley's arc so far has been insufferable. it's also very transparent that they're going to use this season to introduce another long-term love interest for Hank, and i anticipate a lot of episodes focusing on his tortured mind changing between her and Karen ad nauseam. still, i'm enjoying watching it and it still gets cheap laughs and i'd be mad at myself if i quit now sooo

The finale season stinks like this so much more plus add "forced sendoff/conclusion of an arc that ended fine last season imo".
My feelings I guess:
Season 1
Season 3
Season 2
Season 4
Season 6
Season 5
Season 7

I hated Friends. Still don't enjoy it at all. But Arrested Development is surely a personal favorite.
If you're searching for some other original comedies, I'd suggest:
Trailer Park Boys
Peep Show
East Bound & Down
Louie
Freaks & Geeks
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Bored to Death
Derek

Started watching just recently, it's very good
Watched Peep Show about ten times over, been meaning to watch Derek since Office and Extras are so good but I've heard it's average _________________ Shut up mate you're boring!

I actually like Derek more than Extras. It's a bit deeper, plus Karl Pilkington and Stephen Merchant's characters are hilarious just on sight alone. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

Nice! Just watched that a couple of months ago. Good mindless fun with characters I can actually relate to. Pretty much the BAWPish tv show ever. LOL.
