The one good thing about lumping diverse musical styles into one category is that it helps to open you up to all sorts of music. I really liked Paul Simon's Graceland and that led me to discover artists like Fela Kuti, Mulatu Askeke and Tinariwan, none of whom I would have discovered if the "genre" was more narrowly defined.
