^ Pretty much this

Well at least Bono has done and achieved things that can justify (well.. explain) his egotism in a way.

edit: and as I said, no matter how highly he thinks of himself, I can't hear it in his (U2's) music. Which instantly makes him more tolerable to Kanye

ABSOLUTLEY NOT to your first point.

and you're talking bullshit with you're second point, at least I (and Kanye) can admit he has an ego and it permeates his themes and lyrics you and Bono on the otherhand are in denial Shame on you

To my first point: what does a man have to do then to deserve being a wee bit egotistical? (note: not saying that Bono is only a "wee bit")
To my second point: I have three U2 albums on my chart, Boy, War and Joshua Tree - please, can you argue that any of these three have lyrics and themes that would be egotistical?

Actually, here is a song, where he is mentioning his "ego"

Link

I'm starting a landslide in my ego
Look from the outside to the world I left behind
I'm dreaming, you're awake
If I were sleeping, what's at stake?
A day without me

Whatever feelings I've been feeling
What are the feelings you left behind?

Today's a day without me

I started a landslide in my ego
Look from the outside to the world I left behind
In the world I left behind
Wipe your eyes and then let go
To the world I left behind
Shed a tear and then let go

Can't really be fucked going through all the lyrics but suffice to say it is a different type of egotism, akin to how itsit put it - the golden messiah. I'd much rather the honest egotism of Kanye much more human and pitiful (and he's aware it's pitiful).

And, O by the way, he was one of the greatest drummers that ever lived.

Kanye west with this album proved that hip hop can produce very high quality music ! super great !

That gets proven multiple times every year.

And I'm with the poster who said he or she prefers Big Boi's Sir Lucious Left Foot.

Sir Lucious Left Foot is also in my top 100 albums chart (100#) and i have to agree that none of the songs from My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy are better than You Ain't No DJ, but big boi did a better job with Janelle's album.

You probably mean stuff like "One".. I mean yeah it's cheesy, but I wouldn't call it egotistical. Thinking that songs like this could actually change the world might be egotistical though.. (and TBH he actually might think that)

Bono wrote One for AIDS awareness.
