popular singles are not indicative of an act's quality (at least for me). it is a moot point. you can think of good and bad bands for each side.
oh, and going into these sorts of lists and ridiculing them for including pop and classic rock stuff is pretty weak, tbh

Why are Nickleback and One Direction not amazing? Were you told to hold the opinion they were terrible?

One single wouldn't even be enough. You need to have like 20-30 hits to be a top band. Even then, you need to put out maybe 3 amazing albums. Sorry, NMH. You were great for your years, but you only put out 2 amazing albums.

They can go on the greatest short lived bands list. Them, Nirvana maybe, who else?

Probably the best move on your part
Anyways, this list is good for what it is. Mostly classic rock, safe stuff. Solid, but not very interesting and not much I listen to on here. The Velvet Underground all the way up at #24 is surprising.

I think it's a great collection of influential artists. I wish The Smiths made the list, though.

I'm pretty sure Rolling Stone put them even higher than 26th in their top 100. _________________

I think you're correct! It always surprises me how accepted The Velvet Underground are among publications like Rolling Stone. Right there next to Led Zeppelin and the Beatles.

I think everything on that list should probably be there, just not in that order. _________________ RNFNR
