The more I think about this, the more it seems really fucking weird. Can you imagine yourself dying, just like lying there unable to move and then you're like "yess yess lets give dark side of the moon one last spin..." and then just lying there as it plays until you finally die. like god that's so awful.

Well when you put it that way, "just lying there...until you finally die" would be a pretty awful experience regardless of what you're doing.
