I was kidding. Both artists were incredible and the haters are missing out.

Among the ridiculously highly praised records form the 60s, I think this one is the one that lives up to its reputation the most actually, or maybe on par with Pet Sounds.

Some of the less obvious sarcasm I've seen on the internet (at least when one assume that you didn't refer to the the "changed rock music forever"-bit). _________________ "The Beatles, the greatest band known to mankind." - Bismah Mughal

I'm not sure the post of yours that I quoted could have been less applicable to Kings of Leon.

I'm deeply sorry I ever visited this site. Yes, the Beatles are very under-hyped, that's what I said!

Imo it could, but let's give this a rest for now. _________________ "The Beatles, the greatest band known to mankind." - Bismah Mughal

BrandonMeow wrote: | It's a weird album in that it is clearly awesome and it's got cool songs and it is the epitome of this and that and it is ahead of its time and meow blagh miaow wow, but...it doesn't feel very personal. Not to me. Hard to imagine anyone personally connecting to it. And that is what music is for me, not the history of it and such. Sunday Morning is lovely, best track for me, says a lot about my sunny idealism that I'd rather immerse myself into an album of that than an album of Heroin or Venus in Furs. This is still a positive review, mind you, but...if it is the epitome of anything to me, it is the epitome of the impersonal record...though I think a lot of classics are that way. Feel free to counter this and say, "Oh no, so-and-so is really powerful to me!" I mean, I can see that Heroin is intense and such, but...still.
Sorry for rambling. XD
Oops I've kind of forgotten songs like I'll Be Your Mirror. That is a sweet song. Nico makes it more personal, probably.
I still think it is a tad impersonal and I'm not fond of the aesthetic, whatever that may be. |
TBH I agree in part with this: VU & Nico feels very calculated (aside from the songs you mentioned obviously), perhaps intentionally so. WL/WH, in my opinion, has songs just as good but feels more loose and fun, as does the self-titled album. In a nutshell, each VU album is unique and worth listening to. Aside from Squeeze maybe.
