Like all the other very best albums, it took me a while (months...) to like it. _________________ One thing I can tell you is you've got to be free

For sure. I'm personally not too big on "Have a Cigar". Feels like a straight-up pop tune sandwiched among 4 more prog-oriented tracks, and it just kind of sticks out like a sore thumb to me. Still a good song on its own, though.

Ah, my bad. I thought you were including everybody who dislikes this album in that comment. Apologies.

Dude, "Shine On You Crazy Diamond", that song is like audible magic. _________________ 2023 Chart

On the topic of Wish You Were Here, I believe that the one song that is closest to "meh" is "Have a Cigar." It works with the album, but I just don't enjoy it as much. "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" (both sections) is just divine, in my opinion. And also, the title track is a little over-celebrated in my opinion.

With a good set of headphones on, laying back and closing your eyes and just letting the music flow over you.. incredible experience. Not something I can listen to casually. It always has to be a bit more of a ritual, but it's great when I do. _________________

I agree, I love "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" and "Welcome to the Machine", and I really like "Wish You Were Here" as well, but it's not the standout for me. _________________ 51 Washington, D.C. albums!

Absolutely agree, though I wouldn't say Shine on You Crazy Diamond is divine, though it is pretty good. Welcome to the Machine is the best track.

It's pretty funny, because people keep talking about how this has no flaws, when I think it's pretty uneven. There are a lot if dead moments in this. Like lethal said, the intro of Time is pathetic. On The Run Bores me to death, Money's solo is way too long. It just makes the whole thing drag IMO.
About my enjoyment of the album itself : I love it. It even was on my chart actually. Breathe is fantastic, Money's bassline is one of the best ever, Time, Us And Them and Brain Damage are among the best Floyd tracks ever, and The Great Gig In The Sky and Any Colours You Like are great and give a breath of fresh air to the album. Had this been less "look at how musical geniuses we are an how we can make incredible sounds" and more based on the actual composition, it would really have been one of my favorites. As it stands, it's a fantastic album.
