Cab Calloway was doing it in 1932. Despite it being Jacko's signature move, I don't think it's ever been suggested he invented it.

Doing some music organization geeking and noticed MJ at 50 and Prince at 57 as top rated musicians on this site.

That's a really good question. The only thing I've heard about Thriller si that it's the quintessential indie album. Like, no one bought it when it first came out. Now, it's barely more heard of then Neutral Milk Hotel's On Avery Island.
