What about Newsom's Ys, Norman Bates? Personal taste aside (I prefer Ys), it's already much more critically acclaimed and popular than MEM.

I hadn't realized "Ys" was much more critically acclaimed, wasn't here in France. Anyway, as much as I love "Ys", I think "Milk-eyed mender" is somewhat easier to listen to, and Newsom might very well go down in music history for this one. But I've always been a very bad seer. Personal taste goes to "Ys" as well, but to my disappointment, it wasn't very much listened to around here. Shame.

The best album of the 21st century is definitely "In Rainbows" from Radiohead...there just isn't a single bad song, and every song on it is masterful.
