I listened to the album a few times and simply just didn't enjoy love it, then noticed that everyone on planet earth seems to think its some sort of masterpiece. Simple as that.

I thought similarly about ten years ago, too, by the way.

Yeah, it took a while for it to resonate with me too. Trying to think what made it click, I used to think The Smile Sessions was miles better (still think it's slightly better) for the longest time and then I sort of played Pet Sounds one morning trying to understand what made it "better" and it fully came together. I think the mood I was in was something like happy + world weary?

I think sunflower is their best, though there are a couple of duds on it..

I dont think any of their albums are consistently brilliant all the way through.

im posting because i think its v interesting how users on this site, when they become more well-versed in music, tend to stray away from rating the classics really high on their chart. for example, very few prominent members will have a beatles album in their top 10.

fuck that noise man, anyone who would summarily dismiss any album simply because it would make them "look" a certain way if they listened to it and enjoyed it is a moron, and I have a pretty strong feeling that virtually none of the regulars here are like that at all.

I'll second that. Sorry I'm late, just got a little turned around on my way back from the forest.
