I saw this thread on Rate Your Music and I had been meaning to ask this on here, but didn't know how to phrase it. So basically, which is it more rewarding to be? Someone who really gets into certain genres and become experts on them, or someone who listens to everything?
For the most part I'm a specialist. I do plan on moving onto other genres, but at a slow pace, because I want to really know the genres that I already listen to.

You're going to leave us in agony and let us die gradually with your neverending old vs. new, open vs. close debates. Very Happy Btw I don't think there's an essential conflict here between being a "Generalist" and a "Specialist".

I guess generalist because I listen to lots of genres instead of really focusing on one. but neither group is superior, and primarily this:
