Fantastic, I remember thinking it was one of the weirdest records I had ever listened to at the time. I haven't listened to it in a looooooong time, but I remember it being a lot of fun, going in plenty of unexpected directions, and doing it very well. I've only heard his first three (or were there other records before? I think there are, but let's not count them for the moment OK?), and I'd rank this slightly above his debut, which is itself faaaaaar better than Mutations (which is pretty much why I've stopped listening to him, lol. I should forgive him and start again).

I would also recommend listening to Sea Change and Guero.

Anyway, I'm listening to this right now and I can remember why I love it so much. Crazy and diverse but always super fun; this album is a joy to listen to.

If you like Odelay but not his debut (I assume you mean Mellow Gold and not SPSM) or Mutations then don't listen to Sea Change, it's mostly folky sad stuff. Guero is the closest to this album but IMO it has no personality.

I personally don't think this his magnum opus (for me that would be Midnite Vultures) but it is a pretty good record. Of all his party records, this one is definitely the second best (most would say first). I generally prefer his folk stuff though (Mutations, One Foot In The Grave and those early demo tapes)

A pretty stunning piece of work. So many disparate threads woven together that it's a wonder it has any coherence at all, but it hangs together beautifully. For my money, probably one of the most important albums of the '90s.

Always high on my chart, I love this album. The experimentation has me on the edge of my seat for the next track with every listen. When I first played this album through, I thought it was great, but not "chart worthy", however, on second listen, that changed, immediately.

97/100

Key Tracks:

1. Devils Haircut
2. Hotwax
3. Lord Only Knows
6. Novacane
7. Jack-Ass
8. Where It's At
11. Readymade
13. Ramshackle
