I've purchased half my personal collection twice - once on cassette then again when upgrading to CD. I never upgraded a number of albums though - including most of my Beatles tapes, regrettably.

Only one I've purchased three times was Girlfriend by Matthew Sweet, since I bought a copy to give to my then-girlfriend (now wife, and no, not due to that album, she doesn't really like it).

Does it count if you buy it for yourself and then bought it again for a family member or girlfriend as a gift?

if so

Sigur Ros - Ágætis byrjun x2
Eminem - Marshall Mathers LP x3
The Clash - London Calling - x2
The Pixies - Doolittle x2
Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti x2
Arcade Fire - Funeral x3
Beach House - Teen Dream x2
Nirvana - In Utero x2
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magick x2
Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion x2
Stone Roses - Stone Roses x2

theres probably a few more.

But the only Album ive bought for myself twice was

Radiohead - In Rainbows (ex girlfriend stole my copy)

Well, my family's probably purchased Pink Floyd's The Wall five times. Originally on vinyl, then on CD, then the movie, then the concert DVD, then on Itunes (when I couldn't find my CD copy :p).

A lot of my dad's other Pink Floyd album's my brother's re-bought on CD, as well.

I downloaded Little Earthquakes and Evanescence's debut on Itunes originally, but then got CD copies for $2 and $4 respectively at the used bookstore. Same with Avril Lavigne's Under My Skin.

Several hundred albums that I first owned on vinyl and then purchased again on CD. Can't think of any that I've bought three times though.
